Parassinikadavu Sri Muthappan Temple Parassinikadavu Sri Muthappan Temple or Parassini Madappura Sree Muthappan Temple, which lies on the banks of the Valapattanam River, attracts people from all sections of the society; irrespective of religion or caste to the district of Kannur. One of the interesting facts is that, here dogs are considered to be sacred as it’s the vehicle of Lord Muthappan. One of the most sacred pilgrimsites in north Kerala, the temple provides free meals and accommodation to all visitors. The devotees are given boiled black beans and tea as Prasadam (devotional offering).

Spread over a 55 sq. km area of forests on the Western Ghats, the Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary is among the finest of its kind in Kerala. The entire area is covered in tropical and semi evergreen forests and is a truly riveting sight. One can catch sight of herds of elephants, gaur, sambar, spotted deer, barking deer, Nilgiri Langur, Hanuman Langur and the Malabar Giant Squirrel. Ezharakund is one of the most picturesque waterfalls of Kannur district, situated in the Paithalmala valley close to the Kerala-Karnataka border, located at about 52 Km Northeast of Kannur via Sreekandapuram and Kudiyanmala (and about 38 Km Northeast of Taliparamba). It comprises of seven levels of rocky natural pools of varying sizes and depths that contain crystal clear water for most period of the year (The gentle flow of clear water cascades in seven tiers creating beautiful clear pools at the end of each fall). The falls make a unique scene. It is like 4 kettles stacked one after the other. As the water over flows it fills in the second kettle and so on. The area is still a hidden treasure although the state government is working to develop it. The kettle on top are quite deep and therefore dangerous. The third one is ok to descend the two on top are more than 10 feet deep.
Palukachi Mala ' is in the Northern part of Kerala - Kannur district. Kottiyoor is called Dakshina Kashi and Daksha Yaga bhoomi. Kottiyoor Shiva temple is very famous and ancient. Twenty eight days religious celebrations are held there. Brahmins, Nairs, Izhavas, Paniyan, Kurichan, Mannan, Chaaliyan, Chettiyaar, -- all the castes including both rich and poor come there. One part of the temple is Palukachimala. After Daksha Yaga Dakshayani sacrificed her life in the Yagna Agni. In the next birth she became the daughter of Himalaya - Parvathi the Shailaputri. After their wedding Shiva and Parvathi celebrated a divine feast with milk. All the Devas participated in that. They used three mountain peaks as their stove (Aduppa, Choola). Even now you can see that the mountain is like that. Early in the morning the clouds are moving on the top of the mountains just like boiling vapours of milk. So wonderful, nice and divine! Jagadguru Swami Sathyananda Saraswathy Maharaj started his Dharma Samaram - a war against mutilation of idols - from Palukachimala.
The Pazhassi Dam also called Kulur Barrage is a stone masonry diversion structure in Kannur district, Kerala, India. It is named after king Pazhassi Raja, a local warrior. The dam is built at Kuyiloor across the Valapattanam River, in the basin of the West flowing rivers from Tadri to Kanyakumari. It rises in the Coorg (in Karnataka)
